Built by a mermaid, musician & dungeon master
Hello and welcome to Neverkin! I'm Maija - the founder and solo dev behind this app, as well as a mermaid, musician and a DM from the title. I am all three people, yes. Neverkin has been my hobby project since early 2022, and I'm happy to finally share it with you!
I take maintainability, architecture and security seriously, and Neverkin is optimized for long-term maintenance and development experience. I have even built a little custom framework to support it!
If you encounter issues or have ideas for new features, please don't hesitate to reach out or submit a pull request! Contributions are very welcome, and if you're a dev, you should be able to get a local dev environment up and running in a single command.
Neverkin is free from ads and credit cards, and I'm committed to keeping it that way. If you wish to support the project, the best thing you can do today is to share it with those who might find it useful!

Is Neverkin really free?
Yes! Neverkin is open-source under the GPL-3.0 license. You can use the hosted version for free, download the desktop version, or self-host it on your own server. You can't pay even if you wanted to. Maybe Patreon at some point in the future.
Can I keep parts of my world private?
All your data is private by default - nothing is visible to anyone unless you explicitly share it. You can invite collaborators with read-only or editing access, or make a world publicly visible if you choose. If you self-host, then your creativity never leaves your machine.
How does real-time collaboration work?
When you invite collaborators to your world, they can view or edit based on the permissions you set. All changes sync instantly via WebSockets — every connected user sees updates in real-time.
How does it compare to other worldbuilding apps?
Ambitiously! Neverkin is still young, but it already delivers a solid set of features that set it apart. Take a look at the full comparison against the giants like World Anvil, Obsidian and Miro for more details.
Can I export my data from Neverkin?
Yes! You can export or import your data as a JSON file to back up your worlds or to move them between environments. Other formats are coming... eventually.
